Longtime AIDS and LGBT health advocate David Munar will take over the troubled Howard Brown Health Center ( HBHC ) as its new president and CEO starting April 1.

Following whispers that Howard Brown Health Center is set to hire a new leader of the organization, as reported last week in Windy City Times, comes news of employment terminations at the agency.

After a particularly rocky period with the controversial Jamal Edwards at its head, Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) seemed poised, if somewhat uneasily, to transition into a new period towards the end of 2012. After nearly a year, questions remain as projects have stalled and a new, permanent CEO has yet to be announced.

Howard Brown Health Center’s (HBHC) former CEO and president Jamal Edwards departed the organization in August 2012, amid a flurry of complaints and questions about his management style and strategies.

It has now been almost a month since Windy City Times first broke the news that Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) had placed its CEO and CFO, Michael Cook and Mark Joslyn, respectively, on paid administrative leave.  Since then, HBHC has revealed no details about the reasons for its actions, only issuing a series of increasingly cryptic press releases promising further details.
