Support the work of an independent, freelance writer. You can do this in a few different ways. If you have a subscription from the previous site, it is still active.
I am a shameless and relentless self-promoter and will happily appear on your show/blog/media outlet without pay. But I will not write for free or make formal presentations at your academic institution or nonprofit for free, under any conditions, or without an advance. (Exceptions may be made for very small, underfunded activist spaces, and only if no one else is paid either.) Even the prospect of writing for a “prestige” publication or university will not change my mind: I have refused offers from many, including two from Harvard–yes, that Harvard, at least one from Yale, and other Very Prestigious Institutions (I have lost count).
Here are the concrete ways you can support me:
- Sign up for a subscription plan. You can choose from Chloe ($2), Mo ($5), Toby ($10), through PayPal. For annual plans, it’s $20, $50, and $100, respectively.
When you become a subscriber, you will be added to a mailing list to receive writing updates; you can unsubscribe from that at any time. Just send me an email with the word “Unsubscribe,” and I will take you off the list with no questions asked.
If you would like to set a higher monthly amount, you can specify how much you’d like to send on Paypal. If you have any questions, please contact me at nairyasmin at gmail dot com.
Send me a donation through PayPal or Venmo or other service (see below).
Pay me to make a presentation at your institution/nonprofit/activist group/reading group. Contact me for details at nairyasmin at gmail dot com.
- Get me something from my wishlist; this includes a range of items and you’d be surprised at how excited I get over crafting supplies, coffee, or an Amazon gift card.
- Read and promote my work by RTing and posting links on social media and/or share with it with friends and colleagues. Getting my work out there to a wider audience is one of the best ways to support me.
